In 2013, BYD ranked the 5th place with its 2,099 national invention patents in force, just following behind Huawei, ZTE, Sinopec and SMIC. Meanwhile, it acquired 340 invention patent grants and filed 94 PCT applications.

 

In terms of the number of invention patent grants, BYD ranked the first among its peers in motor industry in China.
