The China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) recently presented awards to Chinese innovators for outstanding patents.

A ceremony to present recipients with the 25th WIPO-CNIPA Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention & Industrial Design took place in the city of Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning Province. A total of 30 inventions and utility models, as well as 10 industrial designs, received gold awards -- China's top honor for patents.

The winning innovations span key areas such as core technological breakthroughs, high-end manufacturing, green and low-carbon initiatives, vaccine development, life sciences and health, and include an advanced glass-production technology, a database transaction-processing method and unmanned aerial vehicles. Awardees include tech giant Tencent, Chinese NEV pioneer BYD and the Dalian University of Technology.
